No More Free Sunday Parking Meters in Chicago

Copyright: Flying Debris
For the time being this bike can still park for free everyday but autos parked here on Wells St. will have to feed the meter everyday.

The City of Chicago has just completed a deal that privatized the city's parking meters and the Expired Meter helpfully reminds all of us what is entailed here. Higher rates and no free holidays or Sundays.

Noted parking expert the Parking Ticket Geek wrote: "(m)ake sure you check all the signs and stickers on the front of your meter or pay & display machine."

Well I guess that will keep people wao are economizing from leaving the house! But what about the small businesses, what will they do when the customers don't come over any more?

You're right, it is horrible for businesses in many areas without parking lots, stores that aren't part of one of those hated strip malls.
