Kristallnacht Anniversary

Today is the 69th anniversary of Kristallnacht. The date, which should live in infamy, should be a marker of remembrance for all of us. For some time I have looked at some of my fellow Chicagoans and known what was felt by some German Jews after Kristallnacht. The night has also been known as the "Night of Broken Glass" as it featured Nazis who smashed the windows of Jewish businesses in Nazi Germany. Sure it was a warning to get out of Germany but if you put yourself in the shoes of German Jews you will likely find plenty of reasons that they didn't leave, including the idea that their neighbors couldn't possibly be that evil.

The world's jihadists did not break windows as a warning, they went straight to killing Jews. I have made the comment comparing modern-day leftist America to post-Kristallnacht Berlin in order to attempt to understand the frustration of what was then a group of forward thinking German Jews who wanted to leave Germany to some of my liberal friends and the liberals simply do not understand the comparison. In all fairness, many liberals do not understand the world outside of their parochial lives, they do however spend a lot of time reading fantasy novels and the NY Times (is there a difference?). So they could be excused if they simply stayed silent on subjects that they do not understand, instead they insist that the world's murderous jihadis are a figment of some evil neo-con's imagination. These folks simply do not appreciate having reality "thrown in" their faces.

Democratic Activist & Chickenhawk

Noted Democratic Activist, notorious Chickenhawk and Serial Killer John Wayne Gacy pictured with then soon to be First Lady Rosalynn Carter in Chicago.

Many rather dumb liberals have decided that they are so smart that they could frame an argument in a manner that precludes the other side from even positing an argument. They state that if one is not in the military then one could not argue for any use of the military. Anybody with a brain and a reasonable education would know that the converse would also hold, if one is not in the military then one could not argue against military action because one would not have the necessary background to make the decision. Of course they are making the charge that anyone who advocates military action should take up arms and fight, as if that was the only action that one could do to support a nation at war. They also ignore the fact that in our democracy the military is controlled by civilians; if it were otherwise (as they suggest that it must be!) those very same fruitcakes would be going utterly bonkers, as would an overwhelming majority of conservatives.

The Whole World is Watching!*

The Democratic Party and their core base of Surrender Monkeys are at it again!
The Gateway Pundit has the story with maps! After decades of telling the world how they are for human rights and women's rights, they have been given an opportunity to put those hollow words into action and once again they side with the world's fascists by insisting that the brave men and women of the US armed forces surrender. The Whole World Is Watching and all they can do is abandon those who desire to throw off the yokes of oppression. Pathetic!
*The chant "the whole world is watching" was used to dramatic effect by the protesters at the Democratic National Convention of 1968 which was held right here in Chicago. While young people were protesting the convention and the Democratic Party's involvememt in the Vietnam War (actually they were more against the draft) the Chicago Police were sent in against the crowds of protesters because the city deemed that the protesters were illegally camped out in Grant Park. As the Chicago Police waded into the crowd the crowd chanted "the whole world is watching", and indeed they were, the protest was televised. Over the years I have talked to people on both sides of that clash (I was much too young for such activities) and people on the police side would often tell stories that have never make it into press accounts. Those stories could change the story line about those evenings that has been promulgated for almost 40 years. For instance a retired FBI agent and some of his then co-workers (at his son's wedding) told me how they arrested a guy coming in from Northern Illinois University with bombs containing nails, that is more al qaeda-like than "peaceful" and the abuse that many Chicago Police say that they faced before the fateful clashes certainly was not "peaceful".
Many Thanks to the wonderful Dr. Sanity and her Carnival of Insanities for inclusion again this week.
