Cougar Killed in Roscoe Village!

Photo Copyright Chicago Tribune/Candice C. Cusic

Earlier this evening a cougar was shot and killed in Roscoe Village, a neighborhood on Chicago's northside. No doubt this was the same animal that Publia from the Wilmette blog reported on Saturday. The cat likely followed the North Branch of the Chicago River from the Lake Michigan shoreline at Wilmette Harbor down to the woods near Lane Tech and the old Riverview amusement park then across Western Avenue, down Roscoe Street into the heart of Roscoe Village. The four-foot tall animal was said to leap six foot fences with ease.

Cougar makes splash on other side of pond! It was good seeing you, KL.UK, as you scattered your Pounds across America.

I don't think it was the same cougar, although if you map between the Fourth and Linden and where the cougar was shot, he could have gone straight down Western Avenue. There were reports of a cougar at the Skokie Lagoons, but an hour and a half helicopter search turned up nothing. I think the cougars are back. For about the last year I have seen far fewer deer than usual.

Don't forget your 'Cougars' baseball jersey, El Rider. You can show solidarity with this oppressed minority in the face of facist gun-clinging, god-delusional police brutality. Power to the People! um, well, the cats, OK?.

P.S. HBD
