Sophisticated Manhattan Bumpkins Show Inner Selves
This video shows the derangement that sometimes passes for sanity on New York's Upper West Side. It shows the point of view of marchers supporting John McCain and Sarah Palin, watch them as they march down the center of a closed to traffic Columbus Ave. through at least the 80s and 90s (streets). To put this in perspective Columbus Ave. in New York runs a block west of Central Park from Harlem (110th St) where it turns into Morningside Dr. to 57th St. where it turns into 9th Ave. Columbia University is at it's upper terminus, John Lennon's former home is at 72nd St. a block east of Columbus on Central Park West, the Museum of Natural History is on 79th St. and the Metropolitan Museum of Art is right across Central Park at 82nd St. This is a march through sophisticated New York, is this a view of what the future of dissent will be in this nation?

Obama Housing Advisor Major Part of Fannie Mae Scam
In 2002 the Journal was especially hard on Fannie and Freddie, it seemed that after years of their editorializing that the government may actually do something positive to assist the public before Fannie and Freddie cost us all dearly. Well that did not sit well with Raines, the Clinton administration lawyer who was appointed to run Fannie, so he penned this hysterical bit of nonsense, Don't Tar Us With an Enron Brush. Too late for that plea Mr. Raines. Franklin Deleno Raines should be in prison, instead he is the housing advisor to the Obama campaign. It seems that Senator Obama has been getting housing advice from a convicted Syrian mobster named Tony Rezko and by the man who helped collapse the mortgage market. Does that make you feel better?

Obama Campaign On the March Tonight - Goes After WGN
The author of the latest anti-Barack hit book is appearing on WGN Radio in the Chicagoland market tonight, and your help is urgently needed to make sure his baseless lies don't gain credibility.
David Freddoso has made a career off dishonest, extreme hate mongering, even calling legislation to protect people from hate crimes the "Thought Police."
And WGN apparently thinks this card-carrying member of the right-wing smear machine needs a bigger platform for his lies and smears about Barack Obama -- on the public airwaves.
Freddoso will be on WGN tonight from 9:00 to 11:00 to promote his new attack book against Barack.
Tell WGN that by providing Freddoso with airtime, they are legitimizing baseless attacks from a smear merchant and lowering the standards of political discourse.
Call into the "Extension 720" show with Milt Rosenberg at (312) 591-7200
(Show airs from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. tonight)
Then report back on your call at http://my.barackobama.com/WGNstandards
A couple weeks ago, we asked you to call into Rosenberg's radio show when he hosted unapologetic smear artist Stanley Kurtz' incoherent rantings about Barack and William Ayers.
And you responded. Rosenberg's producer said the flood of calls and emails the show received was the biggest response ever for something like this.
Calling will only take a minute, and it will make a huge difference if we show that our grassroots movement can go toe-to-toe with their media smear machine.
Confront Freddoso tonight before this goes any further:

Please forward this email to everyone you know who can make a call tonight.

Obama Campaign Beats on McCain for Being Beat on By Vietcong
McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.
What's next, an ad saying that McCain can't tie his shoes?
If the media did a better job they would remind voters that although the Obama campaign's website wasn't actually hacked on the eve of the Pennsylvania Primary, it may as well have been. A group of hackers named 2600 obtained the domain name HOPE.net to advertise a convention for Hackers On Planet Earth and they proceeded to link the site directly to the official Obama campaign site making HOPE.com appear to be the Obama site.. Then one morning they made a copy of the Obama web site and proceeded to scribble all over the copied pages and redirect the reader to Hillary Clinton's web site. They should have watched for a redirect like that, his campaign can't even protect themselves from an April Fools morning surprise that made it appear that their website was hacked.
Update: the Gateway Pundit has the story plus the ad itself, Kevin of Wizbang has a piece on McCain's web-savvy 2000 campaign. It seems that it's the Obama campaign that lags in technical savyness.

In Memory of Howard “Barry” Kirschbaum - A Life of Family, Friends and Service
-This was originally posted on September 11, 2006-
Barry Kirschbaum lost his life in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001. Barry likely started that tragic morning like so many other mornings during his previous four years working in the upper reaches of one of the world’s tallest buildings. Barry was the Director of Security for Marsh & McLennan, he was in charge of 20 officers who took care of floors 93 through 100 of Tower One. Marsh was directly below the offices of Cantor Fitzgerald. Tower One was the first of the Center’s towers to be hit; I have a friend who was on the fiftieth floor who was knocked several feet out of his chair, and he’s a big guy.
I never knew Barry but after spending a few evenings searching for and reading snippets of his life through the words of friends and loved ones I feel honored to be writing this post. The comment that seems to sum up all of his friends thoughts was left by a woman Barry dated before meeting his wife Rochelle; she described Barry as a “mensch”, the Yiddish word for a good guy. Indeed Barry was a mensch.
In 1972 Barry joined the New York City Police Department and eventually rose to the rank of Detective, he retired after twenty-five years in order to start a second career at Marsh & McLennan. During Barry’s time on the Police force New York City underwent dramatic changes that often wound up (as usual) putting the city’s Police force on the front lines of society’s problems. During his third year on the force the city of New York even teetered on the brink of bankruptcy. The posts left by his friends and colleagues resonate with Barry’s gift of gab and the gift of his friendship. I am sure that twenty-five years on the New York City Police force gave Barry a nearly endless font of material to amuse and inform his friends and family.
Barry’s path in life was service and friendship; twenty five years as a NY City policeman is more than yeoman’s service yet it was probably tough for him to leave all of his friends behind. Although it did take more than leaving a job to keep him away from those old pals, his daughter Lauren, now 27 said that “He knew every restaurant and what to order and who to go with.” In New York that alone is a full time job. All of his friends wrote of how much fun he was to spend time with, whether in the Kirschbaum home in Staten Island or in one of New York’s many restaurants.
There has been a very small but vocal minority of Americans who have disparaged the WTC victims during the past few years by stating that they deserved their fate. A few have actually used slurs to describe those victims. It should be noted that Barry’s service in the WTC helped a group of people who were transferring risk in a manner that has been critical to the advancement of individuals in our modern economy. Barry’s employer Marsh & McLennan provides insurance services; those services allow products and services to be offered to consumers at lower prices. Everyday products like mortgages have been made more widely available enabling more Americans to enjoy the benefits of home ownership. Those critics simply do not understand our modern society. Barry spent the last years of his life protecting those people who help to facilitate the modern commerce that is improving the lives of so many.
Barry was a lover of family, good friends, good jazz, good brandy and a good cigar. In memory of Barry I plan to have a little bit of brandy, put on some Thelonious Monk and smoke a stashed Cuban cigar this evening. All that is left is say a prayer for Barry, his family and his friends.
Barry’s New York Times obituary can be found here.

Obama Campaign Looking for Organizers
Dear ,
I wanted to get in touch with you again about the upcoming Camp Obama sessions we're holding in Illinois.
As you might have heard, John McCain and his Republican surrogates used their convention to attack Barack and disparage his work as a community organizer.
What they don't get is that ordinary people working together built this movement for change and will lead our campaign to victory in November.
That's why we've had such an amazing response to our Camp Obama sessions so far.
Supporters of all ages and backgrounds, some new to politics and some seasoned veterans, have expressed tremendous enthusiasm for the opportunity to learn the basic organizing principles of this movement and become Deputy Field Organizers in battleground states.
We can't do this without you, and there is still time to sign up. Learn more and apply for a Camp Obama session now.
Thanks,
Steve
Steve Hildebrand
Deputy Campaign Manager
Obama for America
And here is the letter that Steve was good enough to forward to me:
Dear ,
I want to tell you about an exciting program we're launching in Illinois. It's called Camp Obama.
During this two-day session, people like you will be taking their support for this movement to the next level by learning the organizing principles that this campaign and our movement for change are built on.
Camp Obama attendees will receive real world organizing experience that will have a direct impact on this election. Graduates of Camp Obama will go on to become Deputy Field Organizers who will lead this campaign to victory in crucial battleground states around the country.
Find out more about this exciting opportunity to take a leadership role in this movement for change.
By participating in Camp Obama, you'll get the kind of experience that Barack got as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago, where he learned that real change happens from the bottom up.
That experience transformed Barack's life and made him who he is today.
Camp Obama is your chance to put those very same principles into action -- to win this election and to strengthen democracy in communities around the country.
After completing the program, you'll be required to work as a Deputy Field Organizer in a battleground state where you'll be organizing supporters and helping lead our grassroots Get Out The Vote operation.
Apply for a spot at a Camp Obama near you and become a leader in our movement for change:
http://il.barackobama.com/CampObamaIL
This campaign relies on the passion and enthusiasm of ordinary supporters, but it needs leaders who can organize those supporters and turn their enthusiasm into votes on Election Day.
Camp Obama is your chance to step up and become a leader in this movement.
Thanks,
Jon

National Field Director

Obama Campaign Still Illegally Using Boy Scout Name and Logo
Well, they just can't help themselves anymore. The official My Barack Obama web site, now featuring Joe Biden is hosting another problematic web page sponsored by Obama supporters. This one, "Boy Scouts for Barack Obama" is illegally using the Boy Scout logo and name and it is inappropriately using the Boy Scouts of America to promote a political candidate. The group also has some issues with the language, this is their Group Profile: "We are Boy scouts that want to use our rights to make this country a better place." On the other hand the Profile may just be living down to the pejorative "Obamabots."
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) web site is pretty clear on the use of the BSA logo and image:
Please note that in 1916, in order to protect the proprietary marks of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), the U.S. Congress granted the BSA a federal charter (36 USC § 21 et. seq.), which gives the BSA "the exclusive right to use emblems, badges, descriptive or designating marks, and words and phrases [the BSA] adopts."
In effect, almost any logo or symbol that reasonably relates to the Boy Scouts of America or its program is protected. Accordingly, anyone seeking to use any symbols, words, or phrases that might reasonably be related to the BSA and its programs should contact the Boy Scouts of America Legal Department...
Interestingly Troop 632 in Pensacola, Florida had to issue a reminder to their Scouts on the subject of "uniforming", particularly at political events. It seems that during the 2006 campaign President Bush spoke at a rally in Pensacola that was attended by some Boy Scouts in uniform and as Kim Sheldon, the District Executive wrote, "(u)nfortunately, some of the public observing the media coverage perceived this to be a partisan demonstration by the Boy Scouts for the Republican political candidates President Bush was there to promote." In a summary of BSA rules and practices Sheldon wrote, "Scout uniforms shall not be worn to political events or rallies, protests or demonstrations where its appearance could reasonably be used to imply BSA support for a particular political cause or candidate."
So just two short years ago members of the Democratic Party whined and complained about a few Boy Scouts who wore their uniforms to an event featuring the President of the United States, today the Democrats illegally use the Boy Scout logo and name in an attempt to elect Barack Obama President of the United States. According to the My Barack Obama web site this group of 240 "Boy Scouts" has made 3,721 phone calls, they have yet to knock on any doors and they have raised $9,642.40. This Ladies and Gentleman is not what Scouting is about, this is Chicago politics, plain and simple. Get used to it, the election is still 70 days away.
The folks at BoyandGirlScouts.com reported on this issue last month and My Barack Obama continues to host Boy Scouts for Barack Obama. The always prepared Boy Scouts do have this helpful line on the BSA web site: "If you are aware of the unauthorized use of these trademarks, please contact the BSA immediately by linking to bsalicensing.org--Unauthorized Use Form."

Obama Spending Like Drunken Sailor
That's right, despite only reimbursing staffers if they take the el from O'Hare ($1.75 - $2.00) the Obama campaign is spending money like it's tap water. The campaign has planned to up the national staff from about 700 during the end of the primaries to 2000 for the stretch run. That is a larger staff than in the White House and four times more than the Bush campaign of 2004, the previous high water mark. Jaime Sneider of the Weekly Standard Blog posted here on the issue and reasonably stated, "if Obama spends like this when he needs to raise the money himself, one can only imagine what he'll do when he can instead tap the tax coffers of the U.S. Treasury."

Back-Stabbin-Biden Screwed JFK Aide Sorensen
Here is what Sorensen wrote in Counselor:
On the other hand, the prize for political hypocrisy in a town noted for political hypocrisy went to Joe Biden. On my first courtesy call to his office, he could not have been more enthusiastic, supportive, and gracious, calling me "the best appointment Carter has made!"
At the opening of the hearing, he changed both his tune and his tone, stating: "Quite honestly, I'm not sure whether or not Mr Sorenson could be indicted or convicted under the espionage statutes.......whether Mr Sorenson intentionally took advantage of ambiguities in the law or carelessly ignored the law."
After listening to my statement of defense and withdrawal, he said: "Ted, you are one of the classiest men I have ever run across in my whole life."

North Koreans Try to End Joe Biden’s Career
The other day I checked on how many posts on Flying Debris involve Joe Biden and I found this one from two years ago. It is interesting that Orville Wright first flew in December of 1903 and Neil Armstrong walked on the moon in July of 1969 and even more telling Alan Shepard played golf on the moon in February of 1971. Less than 68 years between first flying a canvas covered airplane and sand shots on the moon. Both Obama and Biden refuse to allow America to protect herself and others from missile based attacks and blackmail and Biden wasn't even sharp enough to understand the engineering questions that the systems are based on. Interestingly America's missile defense is based in Alaska where it looks toward Russia and North Korea. Somebody has got to ask Biden about that issue. Here is the post from June 21, 2006.
Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.), like so many of his fellow Democrats, has been a long-time vocal critic of the Strategic Defense Initiative, the missile shield that was knick-named “Star Wars”. Today the US is forced to stare down the rogue nation of North Korea and it's desire to test long-range missiles that they could equip with nuclear arms. The still-in-testing missile defense shield is one of our only legitimate defenses. This is a system that made its way into the public consciousness during Ronald Reagan’s 1980 presidential campaign. Since that time the “Democratic wing of the Democratic Party” has been united in its belittlement of the very idea that a nation could protect itself from a missile attack.
The usual argument (if one is forced to call it that) has been the bumper-sticker-like “you can’t hit a bullet with a bullet!” In fact I found a quote very close to that by some blogger from just four years ago here. Any reasonable student of history has to laugh at those sentiments. In addition to denying human technological advances the Democrats (and other liberals) often had objections that amounted to the fact that early examples of SDI couldn’t cover every single contingency. My personal too-long-for-a-bumper-sticker response has been to compare the speaker(s) to some chump standing on Kill Devil Hills in Kitty Hawk, NC during the Wright Brothers 1903 tests of the Wright Flyer and stating “That thing will never work; it doesn’t even have an in-flight movie!”
The Democratic Party's objections have morphed over the decades but they revolve around the belief that humans cannot do that which has not already been done. This belief is truly stupid. It may very well be a belief rooted in our nation’s educational institutions and their seeming inability to get their students to think dynamically. The Clinton crowd often described dynamic thinking as “thinking outside of the box”; of course that all depended on the meaning of the words thinking, outside and box.
In addition to the rather obvious lunacy of denying human advancement (while using computers no less!) I have always considered the Democratic position to be ignorant as it pertains to politics. It has always been a simple matter of time until there would be some need for a missile shield. Unless one believes that very soon the entire world will be sitting around in a gigantic circle, smoking some big old fatties and singing Kumbaya. The entire argument seems to be based on ignorance of history and of humanity.
If the United States is forced to use our missile defense shield to protect the nation against the rouge regime in North Korea I would expect many Republican candidates to use the multiple decades of Democratic lunacy against them. The quotes to use are as far away as Google. Joe Biden and John Kerry, among others would make big fat targets.

Obama Ally Tries to Scam School Money
Meeks protesting the war with a few other losers in 2003.
Photo Copyright: Flying Debris
The loud-mouthed Obama ally Rev. Meeks is protesting the failure of Chicago's students and he is blaming that failure on the lack funds controlled by him and his allies. He is always about the money. He is taking children out of school (the schools will lose state money for this stunt) in order to protest the fact that the wealthy parents of Chicago's North Shore have chosen to pay higher taxes so that their children could have good schools to attend. Schools like New Trier, New Trier spends over $16,000 per student while the Chicago Public School Syatem spends about $10,600 per student. To put all of this in perspective one of the best school systems in the state is in suburban Naperville where they spend $9806 per student. The well documented problems of the Chicago Public School System has more to do with students not graduating and the parents of those students not caring. Sure they care enough to blame their own children's failures on others, especially if they can yell at somebody and demand more money, but in converation after conversation I hear teachers complain that the parents just don't care. I blame the supposed "religious leaders" in those communities.
According to Meeks, the problem is not that the parents that he "ministers" to are not involved with the lives of their own children but rather that the system needs more money that can be controlled by Meeks and his pals. This is just another Democratic scam, we can expect more of those scams in an Obama administration, a lot more. If Obama can't get his allies to tone things down while he is running for president we can reasonably expect that he could never get his allies to stop marching and demanding that we all pay for scams like the one Meeks is attmpting to pull off today.

They are additionally reporting that there is at least one barge loose in the Industrial Canal, there is a possibility of two more vessels being loose in the Industrial Canal, where there have been reports of a levee being topped.
UPDATE: One barge corralled, the water in the canals is still rising. The Army Corps is looking for additional vessels.
UPDATE: The Army Corps has reported that the New Orleans levees are holding and that they did not have to close gates at Lake Pontchartrain and that the waves topping the levees were not a serious problem and that the pumps in New Orleans are operational.
