The Last Time McCain Held a Lead In a National Poll the Dow Closed at 11,022

I thought of yesterday's post as Karl Rove on FOX tonight mentioned that the last time John McCain lead in a national poll was September 25, when I looked it up the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 11,022. There certainly has been a lot going on in the financial markets beyond the American elections but the buy side certainly is looking at the policies of a potential Obama administration and backing off their bids beyond what they otherwise would have been.

HillBuzz on Race in Pennsylvania

This morning the blog Hillbuzz put up an interesting piece on the race in Pennsylvania and it's 21 electoral votes titled "Here's what we know about Pennsylvania right now."

"Tonight we spoke with a friend from Hillary Clinton’s campaign who is now working for McCain/Palin — and is specifically working with Democrats for McCain in Pennsylvania. We worked with her in Texas, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania for Hillary and have spent many LONG hours with her in the trenches in all of those states. She’s smart, doesn’t BS, and never lies."

She says the same thing we do: John McCain will win Pennsylvania.

I don't know what to think about this but as they say, read it all.

Polls Tighten - McCain & Palin Interviewed on CNBC - Stock Market Explodes!

Some of my liberal friends have told me how goofy I am for noticing that the stock market has lost value when Barack Obama's Presidential campaign rises in the polls and that stock prices have risen when Barack Obama falls in the polls. The correlation is noticeable enough for me, a grain trader to notice it. Well McCain's poll numbers tightened again today plus John McCain and Sarah Palin were interviewed together by Maria Bartiromo on CNBC today. CNBC is watched in nearly every trading office in America, it's even on the screens of televisions on exchange trading floors without the sound. The Dow Jones 30 rose 889 points today.

Maria Bartiromo also played the notorious Obama judicial redistribution tape on air yesterday. Chalk two up for Maria, she's bigger than most of the "big boys."

No video yet but it was a good day for America. Don't listen to those who state that stock traders and investors pay no heed to such ignorant Obama promises as: raising corporate taxes, raising dividend taxes, raising capital gains taxes, rewriting trade treaties to the detriment of all involved, raising overall taxes, increasing regulation, funding "community organizers" like ACORN that use their bullhorn to steal (see: ACORN's involvement in the collapse of Fannie Mae), lower defense funding in a dangerous world, a disturbing, nearly dictatorial view of opponent's free speech rights that will likely be used in the regulatory realm and I am sure that I have missed some things that the buy side of the market looks askance at.

During the rare economic discussion with my liberal friends they really can't make cogent arguments on how those policies are beneficial to the average business, I ask a very simple question: how will raising the taxes of a business give that business incentive to: hire more employees, raise the salary of their employees, increase their bonuses, give them more time off and increased family leave, give them or increase their health insurance, give them or improve their retirement plans?

Now Putin and Chavez Try to End Biden's Career and Obama's Missile Defense Dissembling

Now this is just getting ridiculous, Joe Biden and the entire leadership of the Democratic Party have stood together against missile defense for nearly thirty years. Flying Debris has commented on this party nonsense here and here. Now after repeatedly speaking out against missile defense systems that would protect free people from rogue regimes and blackmailers, and even producing an ad that stated as much, well Barack Obama has allegedly seen the light. Call me sceptical. There is no explanation of this dramatic switch, just a switch that appears to be a politically expedient statement during a nationally televised debate. The Obama campaign could at least point to the news that Russia may be nearing a nuclear agreement with Venezuela. That's right, South America's Venezuela, the one with the crazy dictator Hugo Chavez. Nice. As I watched a replay of the debate today I noticed how Obama made numerous statements that were opposed to statements that he had made during this nearly two year campaign. Here is a You Tube mashup that highlights Obama's missile defense statements:

Obama Campaign Beats on McCain for Being Beat on By Vietcong

This is getting ridiculous, the Obama campaign has just released an ad that blasts McCain for not "using e-mail" at a time when "cyber-security continues to represent one our most serious national security threats," according to Obama spokesman Dan Pfeiffer. For starters John McCain cannot use a keyboard due to injuries inflicted by his Vietcong captors. The Corner has the story of the Boston Globe report from 2000:

McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.

What's next, an ad saying that McCain can't tie his shoes?

If the media did a better job they would remind voters that although the Obama campaign's website wasn't actually hacked on the eve of the Pennsylvania Primary, it may as well have been. A group of hackers named 2600 obtained the domain name HOPE.net to advertise a convention for Hackers On Planet Earth and they proceeded to link the site directly to the official Obama campaign site making HOPE.com appear to be the Obama site.. Then one morning they made a copy of the Obama web site and proceeded to scribble all over the copied pages and redirect the reader to Hillary Clinton's web site. They should have watched for a redirect like that, his campaign can't even protect themselves from an April Fools morning surprise that made it appear that their website was hacked.

Update: the Gateway Pundit has the story plus the ad itself, Kevin of Wizbang has a piece on McCain's web-savvy 2000 campaign. It seems that it's the Obama campaign that lags in technical savyness.

So Now Obama Has Called Sarah Palin a Pig?

The guy is losing it, we are seeing the bullying side of Barack Obama. 56 days to go Senator, can you hold it together? As Karl Rove pointed out tonight, the last person and only person in this campaign who has talked about pigs and pigs with lipstick was Sarah Palin when she made her off the cuff joke about Hockey Moms during her acceptance speech. She has them worried, very worried.

Please Don't Be Diverted by the Ground Noise and the Static

They're back. The children of code pink are attempting to disrupt the Republican Convention again tonight and that was John McCain's reaction, "Please don't be diverted by the ground noise and the static." Then he went on about how people are sick of the loudmouths. That was after saying that he had something very important in common with Barack Obama, they are both Americans and that is the most important club. A pox on code pink.

Update: Michelle Malkin has the story: Un-freaking-believable: Anti-war disrupters sabotage McCain’s speech

She Knocked It Out of the Park

Joe Biden is in trouble next month. No matter what happens in this election Sarah Palin will be a force to be reckoned with, no wonder the media has gone after her in such a sleazy manner.

Obama Offers Alaskans $5000...

...For dirt on Sarah Palin and her husband Todd according to this American Spectator article. The article also contains this doozy: "Last Friday, the Democrat women they put all looked old and tired, nothing like what folks were seeing from Palin," says an Obama media adviser. "It was like, 'we don't have any good-looking younger representatives to put up?'" The left is getting out of control.

Lieberman Lauds His Friend

McCain and Lieberman visit the Corn Options Pit on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade.

I talked to Sen Joe Lieberman (I-CN) when he and John McCain visited the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and when I thanked the Senator for the help that he was giving to John McCain his reply was, "we need him." Senator Lieberman, the 2000 Democratic Nominee for the Vice-Presidency is now speaking at the 2008 Republican National Convntion to support his friend John McCain. Thanks again Senator.

Democratic Cathouse Owner Declares Open Season on Palin Family

Oh great, now Barney Frank (D-Ma) is in on the game of attacking the teenage children of Republicans. As Flying Debris pointed out here Congressman Frank once lived with his boyfriend Steven Gobie in his Georgetown townhouse while Gobie ran a prostitution service out of the townhouse. But even for Frank, to state that he will go after a teenage girl is low. The Gateway Pundit has the story.

Obama Tries to Upstage McCain Thursday Night

He will be on O'Reilly Thursday night. Last week the Obama campaign went on about how McCain better not try to upstage Obama on the big night of his speech. Last week McCain bought time for a very classy message of congratulations. This week the Obama campaign will have Barack appear on the O'Reilly Factor after not even talking to O'Reilly during the entire campaign. That is what you should expect from a Machine Politician from Chicago.

New Lies Seared, Seared Into Liberal Memories

Copyright: Obami.com

After falling for the lies of John Kerry like a bunch of pre-teens hoping for a kiss some Democrats are now lying about John McCain's military record. The losers over at some trash site named America blog are incorrigible, they just can't help their juvenile selves. Where, one must ask does the "new politics," hopey-dopey-changey guy stand on this latest Democratic lie? Where indeed Barry?

Obama: Just Making It Up As He Goes Along

This You Tube video shows Obama doing an awful job of what he seemingly does best, bamboozle. The tendency of some liberals to say anything at all to try to win a public political argument gets very tiring, it seems very important for some of them to not let reality enter their worlds. That would just wreck everything. The internet is slowly but surely ruining that little game, once was the time when one needed to spend an afternoon in a library to prove a liar wrong, today, thanks to Al Gore, a lie can be exposed with a few keystrokes. One must of course bear in mind that liars are also on the internet.

This video of a befuddled, fumbling, telepromterless Barack Obama has made the rounds with the very reasonable observation that if McCain had done this the press would be in high cotton going on and on about how senile John McCain is. Just as the press would have done if it had been McCain rather than the Black Rand McNally who thoughtfully announced that he had campaigned in 57 states or when he actually based an argument on the idea that Arkansas, rather than his home state of Illinois borders on Kentucky. On Obama's confusion with Kentucky being across the Ohio River from Illinois one should remember that Obama spent eight years in the Illinois legislature in Springfield, Illinois. That would be Springfield, Illinois in southern Illinois, two-hundred miles from the Ohio River.

No, I think that Obama and his campaign strategist David Axelrod are just making it up as they go along. You be the judge.

McCain and Lieberman Visited Chicago Exchanges

Photo Copyright: Flying Debris

Republican Presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (D-AZ) visited the floors of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) this morning. Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (D-Rezko) was also at the exchange this morning, however for him I didn't even look up. The above photo was taken outside of the west edge of the Corn Options pit on the CBOT floor and if you look just to the left of Senator McCain you can spy another Senator, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT). Yes that would be the very same Senator Lieberman who was the Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate in 2000 on the Gore/Lieberman ticket. I specifically thanked Senator Lieberman for his support of Senator McCain and commented that it was a gutsy thing for him to do, Lieberman's response was "we need him."

As I wrote in this post Senator Lieberman knows all too well the craziness of the nutroots and the far left progressive crowd that has been in ascendancy in the Democratic Party, that is the reason that he is now an Independent. Lieberman is an Independent who unfortunately and for the time being, caucuses with the Democratic Party. Thank you again Senator Lieberman.

It is worth noting that although the exchange membership generally leans center-right I did hear a few catcalls, all of them in support of Sen. Hilary Clinton (D-NY). I heard nothing in support of Chicago's own hometown hero Senator Barack Obama (D-IL).

Is Obama Blaming America For Cuba?

In response to some criticism from McCain the Obama camp has released a statement that McCain "would give us four more years of the same Bush-McCain policies that have failed U.S. interests and the Cuban people for the last 50 years.'' That is so inane I hardly know where to start. Do the Obama people know that John McCain is not the Vice President? Do the Obama people think that Bush has been President for the last fifty years? Do the Obama people think that Bush is also the President of Cuba?

More to the point, do the Obama people believe that the reason that Cuba, a former Caribbean jewel (with obvious ruling problems) has been turned into a third-world gulag is because of America's policies toward Cuba? That is stunning in it's ignorance. I guess that the Obama people are such leftists that they can't help themselves.

Ann Coulter to Vote for Hillary?

Copyright - Flying Debris/Vanity Fair

Ann Coulter stated on Hannity and Colmes tonight that she will vote for Hillary Clinton instead of John McCain. This should make for an interesting few days, at the very least.

The following is from her online column this week:

The bright side of the Florida debacle is that I no longer fear Hillary Clinton. (I mean in terms of her becoming president -- on a personal level, she's still a little creepy.) I'd rather deal with President Hillary than with President McCain. With Hillary, we'll get the same ruinous liberal policies with none of the responsibility.

The above (photoshopped) photo of Ann at the final Grateful Dead concert at Soldier Field is from this post. The linked post is a must read for any Coulter fan.
